In the latest beta release, Google Maps traffic notifications appear, along with transit maps, and bicycle sharing lanes….
Google Maps began rolling out its latest beta iteration last night. Changes include new transit maps for public transportation routes, as well as bike sharing services.
Google Maps Traffic Notifications, Transit Maps, Bike Sharing Found in Beta in Version 9.75
An APK teardown by Android Police reveals what just might be in-store in the future stable release. It appears that Google is working to include mass transit integration into Maps. (As it’s done more and more for the past few years.) Now, code strings in the app show that it’s about to debut local transit routes to help people more effectively plan their commute, short trips, or other travel plans. This includes a new notification for transit maps, which users can easily disable, if desired.
Additionally, traffic notifications likewise appear in the beta version. While these aren’t new, they have come in different forms. With the latest release, there’s also an option to toggle off traffic notifications.
Furthermore, a bicycle sharing feature is also included. The code analysis also has lines dedicated to speed limits. While speed limits have long been a part of the app, it’s been limited to select areas. However, it might go to a wider roll out in the future.
