Google My Business business descriptions are now available to complete and publish, so people can readily identify a company’s offerings…
Today, Google tweeted out an announcement from its official Google My Business account. Companies can now add a business description to the local knowledge panel which displays on the SERP or search engine results page.
Google My Business Business Descriptions Added
The new Google My Business business descriptions will not only appear in search, but also on Google Maps. Search Engine Journal previously reported on the feature just two weeks ago. Now, it’s rolling out to all business listings.
You can now add a description to your Google My Business listing! The description is a chance to tell prospective customers your story and what makes your business unique. Learn how to add a description in our Help Center: https://t.co/gTX92bPNHl pic.twitter.com/KyKfkiMH88

Here’s what the Google support page says:
“Enter a brief description of your business—what you offer, what sets you apart, your history, or anything else that’s helpful for customers to know. Focus primarily on details about your business instead of details about promotions, prices, or sales. Do not include URLs or HTML code, or exceed 750 characters in the description field.”
To add a business description in a Google My Business listing, simply login to the service. Then, go to “Info” on the left column, and scroll to “Add a business description.” Here’s a screenshot of the option:
