Google One Today charitable donation app shutting down

Google will Kill Off its One Today App in One Week and No One will Miss It

Google has announced it will end support for its One Today charitable donation app in one week after a seven year run…

Google is notifying its One Today users that the charitable donation mobile app will no longer be available in a week’s time. Launched seven years ago, it provided people a way to support non-profit organizations. But donors haven chosen other ways to give. As a result, Google is sun-setting the mobile application.

Google One Today Charitable Donation App Shutting Down

The Google One Today will shut down, effective February 6th. And, by all accounts, won’t be missed all that much. Google subtly hints in its notification email that people opted to use other means to donate to causes.

Although, One Today did do quite a bit right. It protected donors’ privacy, shared stories and photos of causes supported, and pass 100 percent of all money given right to the charitable organizations.

Here’s the message Google is sending out to One Today supporters:

We have an important update to share with you.

We launched Google One Today seven years ago to help people donate to causes they care about. In the last few years, we have seen donors choose other products to fundraise for their favorite nonprofits.

As a result, we will shut down One Today on February 6th, 2020.

New nonprofits will no longer be able to sign up for One Today. The Google One Today app will be turned off, and any open projects will be deleted. We will ensure that 100% of funds donated on One Today prior to February 6th are disbursed to the relevant nonprofits.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the One Today team.

Thank you for your donations and partnership.
