Google has finally brought a useful feature to Google Pay, making dining with friends a bit easier, but it’s limited in its availability…
For many years, especially in the age of plastic replacing cash, the process of splitting a meal, entertainment, and more has been a bit awkward and problematic. Although, in today’s technologically advanced environment, those uncoordinated moments are getting a bit easier to handle. Google has addressed this minor but important circumstance by adding a new “Split a Bill” option to Google Pay — but only in Singapore.
Google Pay ‘Split a Bill’ Feature Debuts
Google recently revealed the new feature — along with a number of others — for Google Pay in Singapore, which has become a testing market for new tools. The “Split a Bill” option not only lets users divvy up restaurant checks, it will also work for movie tickets. Plus, it allows users to create recurring payees so the process is streamlined among those who routinely go out together. Patrick Teo, Director of Engineering, Google Pay writes on Google’s official blog, The Keyword:
“With Google Pay you can already browse cuisines and order takeout or delivery with the Order Food feature. Now that restaurants have resumed dine-in services, we suspect the new Split a Bill feature will be particularly useful for requesting and receiving payments after a meal with friends.”
