Google Photos will Soon Add Likes and Export Motion Still as GIFs, APK Teardown Reveals

Google Photos likes appear in the latest APK teardown, along with support to export motion stills as GIFs, in an upcoming version…

It appears Google Photos will soon get onboard with a very familiar social media favorite — Likes. In a recent APK teardown of Google Photos version 3.15, Android Police discovered strings of code which bring Likes for photos and videos alike to the platform. That’s a reasonable addition, given Google Photos introduced sharing options back in June. Currently, users can share and comment. But, it today’s social-centric world, it makes sense to add simple buttons for faster reactions.

Another app fan-favorite also appears in the upcoming release, Favorites. A simple red-heart icon identifies an album where it’s easy to add or remove photos. Along with the newer version, users can send out Motion Stills in portable formats. It offers the ability to export Motion Stills in the GIF format, or as videos, or even still photos.

Google Photos continues to incrementally evolve. Back in December of last year, support to remove objects from pictures appeared, along with an option to create themed movies. Prior to that, in October, the app made it easier to quickly find pet photos.

All of these changes are currently available on the APK Mirror.
