Google Storyboard

Google Releases Storyboard, a Mobile App that Transforms Videos into Comic Strips

Google Storyboard is a new, exclusive mobile app for Android that takes videos and makes them into six frame comic strips…

Google just released three new experimental photography apps on Product Hunt. Among them are Selfissmo!, Scrubbies, and Storyboard. Selfissmo! is an experimental app that captures selfies every time a user poses. Scrubbies gives users the power to edit video loops, with different options. Storyboard is perhaps the most interesting. It transforms videos into six frame comic strips.

Google Storyboard App Launches, Turns Videos into Comic Strips

The app is quite Spartan at this time but it just launched. It’s an Android exclusive, so iOS users can’t try it out. Storyboard is super-simple to use. Just load a video into the mobile app and within a few seconds, Google renders a comic strip, complete with stylized effects. Users can refresh storyboards to reveal new sets of panels or styles. However, there is no manual editing option.

Here’s the product description, quoted directly:

“Storyboard, takes video clips and automatically pulls out six frames which it lays out in a comic book-style template. You’ll be able to refresh the app to get new layouts and frames, with Google claiming that there are over 1.6 trillion combinations.”

This app could well become popular with heavy Instagram users. And, if Google introduces the ability to add more frames and/or manually edit storyboards, it might prove a huge hit.
