Google is pushing its AI-powered call screen option to its Pixel phones in the United Kingdom, about three years after its first introduction…
Google originally unveiled its super-useful Call Screen for Pixel back at its annual Made By Google event in 2108. (That’s when the Pixel 3 and 3XL were first shown to the public, for added reference.) During the launch keynote, the company announced the tool would debut in the United States. However, the UK Google Store only advertised Call Screen starting with the availability of the Pixel 5. Now, the feature is finally rolling out in the UK.
Google’s Pixel AI-Powered Call Screen Tool Starts its UK Roll Out
Google is currently pushing out Call Screen to Pixel phones in the United Kingdom, even though the company’s official support pages still list the tool as only available in the US, Canada, and Japan. (It’s likewise available on some other Android-powered phones.) But, it doesn’t automatically start screening unknown calls, though it might work on some devices. If it doesn’t, Call Screen can be enabled with just a few steps.
First, Google recommends disabling any third-party recording and call screening apps. Then, check for the latest version of the Phone app. Once updated to the most recent version, open the Phone app, go to Settings > Spam and Call Screen and tap on Call Screen. Under “Unknown Call Settings,” select “Automatically Screen.”
