Instagram Reveals its Algorithm will Not Promote Reels with a TikTok Watermark
The team says Reels creators should post vertical videos with music found in Instagram’s library or sounds already on Reels. The company also recommends posting videos other people can participate in, such as dance crazes, fun activities, as well as entertaining content. Instagram says that Reels covered by text, are blurry, or contain a watermark logo (like TikTok) won’t be recommended as frequently. Instagram spokesperson Devi Narasimhan explains:
“We’re building on what we’ve learned from Explore to recommend fun and entertaining videos in places like the Reels tab, and personalize the experience. We are getting better at using ranking signals that help us predict whether people will find a reel entertaining and whether we should recommend it.”
