Instagram recently shared an inside metrics report and also announced that it would lengthen Stories short-form videos from 15 to 60 seconds…
Instagram is one of the most popular photo and video-sharing platforms of the day. However, its user base is largely comprised of younger people, particularly those belonging to Gen-Z. These users are the ones setting social media trends, with the digital companies doing what they can to best cater to them. Apparently, inside data is telling the people at Instagram that short-form video could benefit from being a bit longer.
Instagram Stories Runtime Extends to 60 Seconds
Instagram has said that it will lengthen the runtime of Stories from its current cut-off of 15 seconds up to 1 minute. Right now, anything shared over 15 seconds automatically gets cut up into separate posts. But, with a new runtime of 60 seconds, everyday users and creators have much more to work with.
This is just one of a few changes Instagram is making in order to better cater to its most important demographics. For instance, the company recently announced the return of the chronological feed, which people have been requesting since it switched over to an algorithmic feed. Additionally, Instagram is making available a similar copy of Facebook Memories, which it also believes will up end-user engagement.
