Instagram Stories Type, recently in limited testing, lets users scribble text over Stories, is now available to everyone to use…
In mid-January, Instagram began limited testing a new tool simply called “Type.” Now, the Instagram Stories text-only format is available for all users. The feature first appeared in December. It only appeared to a small group of users. Then, it showed up for a few more people.
Instagram Stories Type Feature Rolls Out to All Users
The Instagram Stories Type option is located along with the others at the bottom of the camera, next to the Boomerang and Rewind choices. Here is a video of it in action:
There are several fonts to choose from. And, Instagram automatically applies a plain background or a gradient. However, users are able to upload their own image as a background. But, the app automatically applies a faded filter so the emphasis is on the text. Users can also elect to use the new fonts in regular photos and videos.
The feature is now going out to both Android and iOS beginning today.
