Kik Messenger to Live On Under a Different Owner
Kik Messenger is now the property of MediaLab, which owns other internet brands like Whisper, the anonymous secret-sharing social network.
MediaLab states it will do more than just maintain Kik Messenger. The company will also make it work faster and remove bugs. Plus, it says it will rid the platform of spambots. (In order to do the latter though, it must discontinue video chat toggle and the third-party bots platform for the time being.
The MediaLab Team writes:
“We know that Kik has been home to millions of you for many years. While we’re really excited about all the potential, we promise to never lose sight of what makes Kik special. We don’t plan on screwing it up but just in case we’re veering off course, we’re counting on all of you to keep us honest so don’t hesitate to reach out! “
