LinkedIn Android app reaches 500 million Google Play Store downloads

LinkedIn Android App Hits a Half-Billion Installs on the Google Play Store

LinkedIn for Android now claims 500 million downloads on the Google Play Store, helped along by its pre-installs on some prominent mobile devices…

Professional networking platform LinkedIn is a very popular resource for finding open positions and for making new business connections.

Because of its very nature, it lacks the buzz and pizzazz of rivals like Facebook, Instagram, and others. However, it’s utilitarian function has propelled it to a new milestone, reaching half-a-billion installs on Android.

LinkedIn Android App Reaches 500 Million Google Play Store Downloads

LinkedIn now boasts 500 million Play Store downloads, bringing up to another level reached by very few others. Part of this is due to the fact that the app comes pre-installed on several devices, including the popular Galaxy models.

By comparison, Facebook remains at the very top with 2.5 billion monthly active users. Subsidiaries Instagram has 1 billion monthly active users and WhatsApp has 500 million daily active users.

For its mostly utilitarian purposes, this is quite a feat, given it’s not an entertainment portal, like so many of its peers.
