Messenger video chat now includes more options for conversations, including emoji, filters, as well as new masks, right inside the popular mobile app…
Facebook just improved its popular Messenger video chat by adding emoji, some filters, and new masks. Additionally, there are now animated reactions, effects, and a screenshot option for one-to-one, as well as group chats.
Messenger Video Chat Introduces Emoji, Filters, and New Masks
The new Messenger video chat emoji include: love, laughter, surprise, sadness, and anger. The app also changes versions, depending on whether users’ faces is on-screen or off-screen.
Filters are also part of the update. “Look and feel like your best self or express your current mood with Messenger’s new video filters. Choose from a variety of filters, ranging from subtle lighting tweaks to bold color changes—like black and white, red, or yellow. Red not your color? Don’t worry, we’ve made sure the live preview allows you to test the filter on yourself before letting others see it,” Facebook explains.
Messenger masks have been an option for some time but the social network just expanded it to include new choices. Some masks sport hidden effects, such as reacting to facial expressions and/or movements. Facebook urges users to wave their arms in front of their cameras to reveal more while using these effects.
Users can capture screenshots simply by tapping the camera icon, which immediately saves to the device’s camera roll. From there, users can opt to share in Messenger Day or on other social media profiles. Watch the video below to see the new Messenger video chat options in action:
These various options are very popular — Facebook Messenger Reactions racked up 2 billion sends in just the first two months of launching. The social network is currently testing cross-app notifications for Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram.
