Microsoft Defender Android and iOS Support coming Soon

Microsoft Says it’s Bringing its Proprietary Defender Security Software to Android and iOS

Software giant Microsoft is planning to greatly expand its Defender security software platform to both Android and iOS…

Just over the past few years, Microsoft has turned out some impressive mobile applications for Android and iOS. Now, the software innovator states it will bring its Defender antivirus technology to mobile platforms as part of the company’s enterprise suite.

Microsoft Defender Android and iOS Support coming Soon

At the upcoming RSA Conference this week, Microsoft will make its plans public to expand support for Defender to Android and iOS. Along with it, the company will also release a public preview of Defender ATP or Advanced Threat Protection for Linux. Microsoft has previously released a version of its security protection for macOS.

What remains to be seen is how it will integrate with Android and iOS. For instance, Android already has a few solid security and antivirus apps. Meanwhile, Apple does not allow third-party apps to scan other programs for malware or threats.

Microsoft explains:

“Providing comprehensive protection across multiple platforms through a single solution and streamlined view is more important than ever. Next week at the RSA Conference, we’ll provide a preview of our investments in mobile threat defense with the work we’re doing to bring our solutions to Android and iOS.”
