Twitter is making yet another attempt to place itself at the forefront of information. Particularly, when it comes to live news events. The company today announced it will insert more live news events into users’ timelines. The company states it realizes finding the most up-to-date information on various topics is cumbersome. Users must seek out hashtags, track down relevant accounts, or find the appropriate Moments. To make this easier, it’s redesigning the Explore tab.
More Twitter Timeline Live News Events and Notifications going Out
The Twitter Explore tab will feature different sections: Trending, a personalized For You tab, as well as News and Sports. Additionally, the new experience will include live video at the very top, accompanied by brief summaries. Underneath the summaries “Recap” will appear, along with “Latest,” and possibly another tab labeled “Top Commentary.”

Furthermore, the microblog is update is search capabilities. “Starting today, at the top of search results, you’ll see related news, events, or stories and be able to tap in to get a recap and see the latest discussion, videos or scores.”
Twitter likewise states it is in the midst of testing out breaking news notifications based on users’ interests. This will also come to all U.S. users in the coming weeks to Android and iOS devices. Moments will also get an overhaul.
Presently, users swipe horizontally to read stories. But, Twitter states its research shows vertical orientation is prefered and works best. So, it’s introducing a new vertical Moments timeline.
