NBC’s new Peacock streaming app hasn’t been available for quite a week and it’s already amassed 1.5 million installations…
These are the heyday of streaming — at least that’s the feeling consumers get. But, there’s more on the horizon. And, others already out are doing their best to either retain and/or attract new subscribers/viewers. One example is Quibi, which rolled out in August of 2018. However, it didn’t live up to its hype. Conversely, the recently released Peacock app, by NBC is quickly gaining traction.
NBC Peacock Streaming App Reaches 1.5 Million Mobile Installs in First 6 Days
NBC appears to have a hit on its hands, as its new streaming service has managed to accumulate approximately 1.5 million downloads in its first six days on the market, according to data compiled by Sensor Tower. That’s 25 percent larger than Quibi, which gained 1.2 million. However, it’s only about 12 percent of 13 million downloads of Disney+ in its first six days (which reached 54.5 million in early May).
The problem with some comparisons is the fact there’s been a number of changes in the landscape. For instance, Sensor Tower could not contrast HBO’s streaming services numbers, because of its rebranding from HBO Now to HBO Max, due to the fact it changed names after already being heavily downloaded.
