Netflix Gains Exclusive Rights to Stream Future Sony Titles
With this deal in-place new Sony titles will go exclusively to Netflix following their cinema release. The agreement also covers upcoming titles such as Morbius, as well as Uncharted, plus the sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and “future installments of Venom and Spider-Man.” But, this isn’t all. The deal also includes some older Sony content. However, it isn’t known exactly which coming titles will likewise be available for direct-to-streaming releases.
“Netflix and Sony Pictures Entertainment have today announced a multiyear, exclusive first pay window licensing deal in the U.S. for theatrically released SPE feature films, beginning with their 2022 film slate. This new agreement builds upon Netflix’s pre-existing output deal with Sony Pictures Animation films to now include all SPE film labels and genres.”
