Netflix is pulling back the curtain for the first time, letting the public know its number of subscribers across the planet, by region…
We finally know how many paying customers Netflix has around the world. In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Netflix shared its streaming revenue and membership info for the US and Canada; Europe, Middle East and Africa; Asia-Pacific and Latin America.
Netflix Releases Global Subscriber Statistics by Region for the First Time
Netflix disclosed its subscriber count, which reveals that over half of the company’s 158 million customers — along with 90 percent of its growth — now comes from outside the United States.
The European market recorded an increase of 140 percent in subscribers since the first quarter of 2017. Meanwhile, the Asia-Pacific region experienced more than triple in the same time period. And now, Latin America reached 29.4 million subscribers, which is a steep jump from 15.4 million in the first quarter of 2017.
Although, the United States and Canada maintain their titles as the two countries with the most Netflix subscriptions — 67.1 million. Plus, the company brought-in $7.4 billion in the first three quarters of this year. However, membership grew less robustly, at a rate of 23 percent, from Q1 2017 to Q3 2019.
