Google Drive has long suffered from an extensive spam issue and Google is trying to rid the platform of the nuisance with a new blocking tool…
Google Drive is well known for its flexible cloud productivity suite. It can easily handle all sorts of enterprise functions, just like its rival made and distributed by Microsoft. Unfortunately, it’s also become known for another aspect that’s very familiar to other web based services, like email — spam. Google Drive’s spam problem has become pervasive enough that the tech company is finally doing something about it.
New Google Drive Spam Blocking Tool Arrives
Google revealed last week that it’s releasing a new tool to block Drive spam. Basically, users can block others who spam them through the productivity space. However, this doesn’t work for spam that comes from within a proprietary domain, so if hackers get into an organization, the blocker won’t work. Google recently wrote on its Cloud Blog and then latter on its Workspace Updates site the following:
“As we recently announced on the Cloud Blog, we’re adding the ability to block another user in Google Drive. If blocked, the user will not be able to share any Drive items with you, and items owned by the user will not be able to be shared with you or be shown when you’re browsing Google Drive. In addition, your files will not be available to the user you’ve blocked, even if you’ve previously shared items with them.”
