To-date, Facebook users have racked-up more than $1 billion for non-profits and personal causes since its debut. Now, a similar tool will roll out to Instagram, a subsidiary of Facebook.
New Instagram Story Fundraising Stickers
This didn’t come out of nowhere. Earlier this year, at the Facebook Communities Summit, a spokesperson said:
“Later this year, people will be able to raise money and help support non-profits that are important to them through a donation sticker in Instagram Stories.”
The new Instagram Story fundraising stickers might help to rehabilitate the site’s recently soiled image. Recent headlines showcasing bullying, political propaganda, and undue influence have damaged its reputation.
With a new way to raise money for good causes, it could attract more people to the platform. At the very least, it will help to bring increased awareness to various issues.
However, the downside is the payment application. Once someone saves their payment information to the Facebook platform, it’s a tough process to remove it.
