Improved LinkedIn content user controls are coming to the professional networking site, including disabling and enabling user article comments and more…

Professional networking platform LinkedIn launched a refreshed desktop experience in late January. As part of a new user experience, LinkedIn is debuting long-form article comment controls. Users can enable or disable comments after publishing content on the site. Users can also toggle comments on or off at any time.

“In order to continue fostering the sharing of knowledge and expertise, we’ve made some key enhancements for members who publish on LinkedIn — most recently revamping the publishing platform to offer a cleaner writing experience and improving how long-form articles show up to relevant and target audiences across LinkedIn,” Product Manager Heidi Wang writes.

Wang explains the company encourages two-way conversations but understands users preferred enhanced controls. “[W]e will be rolling out the ability for you to directly manage the comments on your long-form articles.”

Users can enable or disable comments by going to the Comment setting icon at the bottom and selecting their choice. If disabled, any existing comments are permanently deleted. Furthermore, this feature will also be available on all LinkedIn user posts, instead of just long-form articles.

Users are also able to report inappropriate comments. To report inappropriate comments, simply click the “More” icon, located at the top right. Click “Report” and tell LinkedIn why it’s being reported in a pop up window.

Software giant Microsoft recently acquired LinkedIn for approximately $26 billion. In Microsoft’s latest quarterly earnings, the professional network contributed $228 million in revenue but also lost $100 million in net income. A similar mixed-results dynamic has continued since October of last year.
