Android TV is now the fastest-growing streaming platform. It rose in popularity while Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV slightly dipped. And, as PlayStation and Xbox shrunk considerably. New Report Shows Android TV is the Fastest Growing in the Industry but North American Penetration Remains Weak
Android TV is most popular in Asia, where it holds 51% of market share. Google’s platform also managed respectable numbers in Europe, Oceania, and South America. Overall, Android TV OS grew by 42% in Q4 2021 compared to the same period in 2020. This growth was just beyond what Samsung and LG TV experienced, at 27% and 36%, respectively. Roku also grew, but only 12% year-over-year.
Although, Android TV isn’t big in North America. In this region, Google’s streaming product only represents a measly 3% market share. Meanwhile, Roku commands a market share of 41% in the same area. But, its growth was positive through the Q4 2020 and Q4 2021 timeframe, whereas FireTV shrunk by 7% and Apple TV shrunk by 1% during the period.
