Snapchat Announces Plans for “Creator Shows,” Featuring Celebrities and Influencers

With VidCon underway, social media and other tech companies are taking the opportunity to step into the original content market. Enter Snap, Inc., parent company of Snapchat. It has announced it will launch “Creator Shows,” which will feature stars and influencers.

New Snapchat Creator Shows Feature Stars and Influencers

The initial line-up of celebrities for Snapchat’s Creator Shows include Serena Williams, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Kevin Hart. Also on-board are creators like Emma Chamberlain, Loren Grey, and Rickey Thompson.

One show is the Rules of Success with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Throwback Toys with Jordyn Jones, and Chasing Clout with Spencer Pratt. The first centers around motivation advice, the second it a retro toy unboxing experience, and the third, is about pop culture.

The shows will be first-person, vertically-oriented videos covering topics such as beauty, fitness, dance, fashion, and more. There will be eight to ten episodes, running from three- to five-minutes.

Creator Shows are a new format of Snapchat Shows, which Snap, Inc. states tripled in time viewers spent watching every day over the last year.

Rival Facebook just recently increased its monetization incentives for creators and IGTV is also doing more to attract talent.
