Google has switched its official Nexus Twitter account to private, as the company moves into the future, while letting go of the past…
Google took its official Nexus Twitter account private recently. The transition comes as the tech company is about to unveil its fourth generation of Pixel devices.
Official Google Nexus Twitter Account goes Private
Google opened its Nexus Twitter profile back in October of 2010, several months after the initial release of the Nexus One smartphone. Over the course of its existence, the account accumulated 1.2 million followers.
Meanwhile Pixel phones debuted three years ago in 2016. During that time, Google confirmed it would indeed continue Nexus software support.
Google has moved onto Pixel devices, which only include phones and no tablets. Many have speculated this is Google’s way of signaling the ultimate demise of the tablet, handhelds which continue to decline in sales volumes.
Google is rumored to release the Pixel 4 sometime early in October. The company has also abandon its dessert-naming tradition, switching to numerical versions, starting with Android 10.
