A limited PayPal Facebook Messenger integration is live to some users but will eventually expand to all for making payments and receiving notifications…
Soon, social media users will have access to a PayPal Facebook Messenger integration. Currently, Messenger supports debit card payments but that’s changing with a planned roll-out of PayPal account link option.
“This collaboration continues to showcase our march to be a customer champion. We will continue to execute on our vision of offering PayPal in more places where people shop online, in app and in store by partnering with companies who share our desire to create meaningful products that benefit both consumers and merchants,” said Bill Ready, PayPal EVP and COO.
PayPal Facebook Messenger Integration to Include Payments and Notifications
Already available to a limited group of U.S. users, all PayPal customers will have the ability to link their accounts with their Messenger profiles. Notifications will appear right inside the Messenger app.
Facebook and PayPal have worked together in the past. Just last year, Braintree, a subsidiary of the payment platform, helped to power an Uber and Facebook partnership. For years, business have enjoyed a PayPal payment option for Facebook ads. Small businesses and marketers alike welcome more diverse payment options for products and services. Consumers will benefit as they have to do less to find and purchase said products and services.
Recently, new Facebook business page features were announced, including third-party button call-to-action integrations, friend recommendations, as well as new CTA buttons. In addition, App developers will receive Facebook user targeted push notification options to increase downloads of their products. Shopify site retail owners are currently able to sell their products through Facebook Messenger.
