NBC’s Peacock streaming service will be the home of ‘The Office’ come January 1st, after leaving Netflix at the end of December…
Fans of The Office probably already know the hit series is set to leave Netflix at the end of this month. They also probably know it’s going to NBC Peacock. But now, details about the move have been made public. NBC will offer the show starting Friday, January 1st, 2021. What’s more, the first two seasons will be free for anyone to watch. (Thereafter, watching it will require a Peacock Premium membership — either the ad-supported tier or the ad-free Peacock Premium Plus subscription.)
Peacock Exclusively Streaming ‘The Office’ Starting January 1st 2021
As expected, NBCUniversal is giving the nine-season television series the special treatment. For instance, there will be new “Superfan Episodes” for people to check out. Plus, beginning with season three, NBC will release previously unreleased or deleted footage. Better still, Peacock will host behind-the-scenes footage from the show, including bloopers and interviews.
What will be most interesting about the move is the fact the 200-plus episode series will go from an ad-free environment to an ad-supported one. The executives at the streaming service certainly believe it will pay off as NBCUniversal paid $500 million to secure five years of exclusive rights to the show.
