Pinterest pinch-to-zoom, a highly requested feature by Pinners, makes its way to iOS and will soon be available on Android.
“We recently brought search and Lens to your home feed, so you can easily get to it when you first open your Pinterest app. Now we’re adding a couple more ways to find exactly what you’re looking for, right from the Pin closeup,” the company explains.
Pinterest Pinch-to-Zoom Debuts as Its Visual Search gets Better
The digital pinboard states Pinners can now zoom in on any detail in an image, simply by pinching. Doing so reveals all the little details, such as texture and colors. Here’s a GIF of the new pinch-to-zoom feature in action:
Pinterest says its Visual Search tool gets a lot of use, increasing an astounding 60 percent over the last year. The social pinboard states it’s made some improvements to the tool, including an updated button and repositioned it to make it easier to reach. Pinterest reveals early tests showed the new Visual Search button was used much more — almost 70 percent Pinners opted to use the tool.
Pinterest has made a number of improvements to its platform. In June, the company redesigned Pinterest Lens, giving it a new look and introduced more tools. Just last week, the social pinboard opened Pinterest Promoted Videos to all businesses.
In the same month, the company raised $150 million and claimed a $12.3 billion valuation. At last count, Pinterest had 175 million MAUs or monthly active users. Pinterest experienced a 3x year-over-year growth in Germany and Brazil and 2x year over-year-growth in France and Japan.
