Pinterest Promoted App Pins, a tool allowing advertisers to place their native apps for download, right on the platform, is now open to all brands…
Introduced in October of last year, Pinterest Promoted App Pins, a feature giving marketers the power to place native apps for download right on the digital pinboard, is now available to all advertisers.
“…we’re making a new format, Promoted App Pins, available to all advertisers. Promoted App Pins are an effective way for people to discover your mobile app, right when and where they’re looking for it,” Mike Bidgoli, Head of New Ad Products, wrote on the company’s blog.

The GIF below shows how the Pinterest native app advertising tool works. When Pinners search the digital pin-style social media site, result listings include native apps. Users can then simply install any Promoted App Pin directly from Pinterest, rather than going to an app store.
“With millions of apps to compete with in the app stores, it can be difficult to get the level of interest necessary to lead to significant downloads. On Pinterest, we make it easy for people to discover fresh ideas and get inspired to do the things they love. With Promoted App Pins, Pinners will find mobile apps designed to meet their needs, mixed right in with the compelling content that keeps them coming back.”
Pinterest is leveraging its users natural behaviors to foster higher engagement levels. There are 2 billion searches conducted monthly and 55 percent of Pinners use the platform to shop. Pinterest states their research shows users who download apps from Promoted App Pins tend to undertake more in-app actions, “including signing up for your services and making additional purchases.”
In March, Pinterest announced a related pins image web search tool and the company also opened Lens to all its users.
