Plex has brought thousands of Crackle movies and television shows to its streaming service, but don’t expect many box office blockbusters…

What began as a way of organizing and streaming personal media collections, otherwise known as Plex, has expanded into offering a free (of course ad-supported) streaming service. Now, Plex has added “thousands” of movies and television shows from Crackle to its entertainment library in the United States.

The new Plex addition of thousands of Crackle films and television shows won’t give streamers a plethora of top-tier content. While there are a handful of blockbusters, these are a small percentage. Some of those better-received are Captain Phillips, and The Illusionist, as well as series such as Hell’s Kitchen, and RoseanneThe majority of titles are second and third tier, but it’s variety is where this addition really makes it worthwhile.

Plex first released its fledgling video streaming service back in December of last year. The first onboard was Warner Bros., becoming the initial distributor. It brought content from some of the biggest studios in Hollywood, including Metro Goldwyn Mayer or MGM, Lionsgate, and Legendary.

Plex says that it’s currently working on developing new partnerships to bring even more free content to its platform
