Roku Channel Adds 100 Free Live TV Channels in its Program Guide

Roku Brings 100 Free Live TV Channels to Its Roku Channel Program Guide

The Roku Channel now includes one hundred free live television channels in its guide, but there’s a slight catch to how it works…

Since Roku first introduced its own channel back in 2018, there have been a number of changes. For instance, the company added more children’s titles to the Kids and Family section back in February. Prior to that, it integrated premium subscriptions. Now, the Roku Channel is expanding yet again. This time, it’s added 100 free live TV channels to its lineup.

The addition brings with it programming from sources such as ABC News Live, Reuters, Newsy, Teletubies, Bon Appetit, Outside TV, Bein, and more. But, don’t expect top tier content. It works much like Pluto TV or Xumo TV, both of which offer a mix of older and/or lesser-known shows. So, it’s not like traditional cable linear programming. Also, there’s no way to set reminders for upcoming shows.

The new content can be found inside “Live TV,” which contains twelve hours of data in the guide itself. Roku states that it will add “Fast Channel Switching” in order to help viewers find the channels they’d like to watch. The new channels are now available through Roku devices and the app.
