Rumor Suggests Amazon would Sell its Twitch Streaming Technology to Businesses

Amazon Reportedly Considering Offering its Twitch Streaming Technology to Businesses as Another Revenue Source

News reports state that Amazon might offer the technology behind subsidiary Twitch’s streaming platform, to businesses as another revenue generator…

Five years ago, Amazon acquired Twitch, the popular video-game streaming service. And, it might be ready to make a move to make that purchase move make Amazon some serious money. If true, rumors strongly imply that the ecommerce giant could have discovered a new way to monetize its asset.

Rumor Suggests Amazon would Sell its Twitch Streaming Technology to Businesses

Amazon is reportedly mulling over the possibility of selling the technology that powers the Twitch streaming platform to businesses.

According to a recent report by The Information, Amazon would offer Twitch’s tech to businesses because the platform hasn’t hit financial forecasts:

“Twitch brought in about $230 million in ad revenue in 2018, according to two people familiar with the matter, and as of the middle of last year it was on track to deliver about $300 million in ad revenue for the full year, according to another person. That was short of an internal goal for the year of between $500 million and $600 million, that person and another familiar with the matter said.”

This just might be a feasible way to transition a money-loser into a money-maker without having to do too much. And, since a number of its biggest gaming stars have already left Twitch for other sites, it makes the proposition even better.
