TikTok Updates its User Policy to Prohibit ‘Misleading’ Videos and ‘Underage Delinquent Behavior’

TikTok has made significant changes to its community guidelines, which now bans misleading videos, along with underage delinquency behavior…

There are some new rules TikTok users should be aware of that have just been announced. Going forward, TikTok prohibits misleading videos, as well as underage delinquency behavior.

TikTok Bans Misleading Videos and Underage Delinquent Behavior

From now on, TikTok will disallow videos that mislead users and proscribes any underage delinquent behavior. The company provides more details in its Terms of Service.

TikTok no longer allows certain behaviors to be a part of its platform. For instance, it has banned content that “depict minors consuming, possessing, or suspected of consuming alcoholic beverages, drugs or tobacco.”

Also, the company no longer will let anyone post content that contains the “depiction, trade, or promotion of firearms, ammunition, firearm accessories, or explosive weapons.”

Recently, every US military branch, along with the Coast Guard, banned service-members from using TikTok over security concerns.

Lavanya Mahendran and Nasser Alsherif, of Global Trust and Safety write:

“…we’re releasing a comprehensive, expanded publication of the Community Guidelines that help maintain a supportive and welcoming environment on TikTok. These guidelines reflect our driving philosophy – providing a platform for creative self-expression while remaining safe, diverse, and authentic – and define a common code of conduct on our platform.”
