TikTok is running a test that works a lot like a Twitter retweet, called ‘Repost,’ which allows users to share content they’ve found…
TikTok has just released its own version of Twitter’s retweet with a new “Repost” button that allows users to amplify videos on the platform. The Repost feature can be found in Tik Tok’s share menu where you would otherwise send your friend messages directly. So, instead of sharing the video with friends directly, the Repost button promotes the video to your friends on TikTok.

However, unlike a Twitter retweet, the reposted video will not show on the sharer’s own TikTok profile. Rather, it only sends the video out to their friends’ For You feeds. What’s more, the new option isn’t available to everyone. (Probably because it’s just a test.) Meaning, it could become a permanent part of the experience. Or, the company might ditch it after its trial run.
Although anyone with access can find a video through the Discover page or in their TikTok inbox, the Repost tool won’t be available. It only appears on videos people come across when they are only browsing their own For You feed on the app, TechCrunch confirmed.
