TikTok is reportedly working to bring longer videos to its super popular platform that could make them as much as three times longer…
TikTok appears to have found the sweet spot when it comes to video. Vine was too short and YouTube features content that can go on for twenty to thirty minutes — even hours. But, it seems the minute length is just right. Making creators get their point across in 60 seconds or less is what makes TikTok work so well. Now, the company is reportedly about to roll out an update that will allow videos up to 3 minutes long.
TikTok Testing Three-Minute Videos
The new TikTok 3-minute video length could fill the void Quibi attempted to fill and failed to do. Now that Quibi is all but dead, and most YouTube videos run over 10 minutes, this might just be a smart move. Although, three minutes is quite a bit of time. For instance, movie trailers usually run about 2 1/2 minutes. Makeup tutorials can also be done in slightly under three minutes. And, those videos are already readily available on YouTube.
So, it’s a gamble as to whether or not the new TikTok video length will work out. After all, when Twitter extended its character length from 140 to 280, it worked out all right. But, video is an entirely different medium.
