Twitter Direct Message Reaction Emojis Debut

Twitter Copies Facebook, Adding Reaction Emojis to DMs

Twitter takes a page from rival Facebook, with the social microblog now supporting reaction emoji in its Direct Message platform…

Twitter mostly keeps things simple. Everyone familiar with the social site knows this. It’s why operators like hashtags, the ampersat, and others are so important to covey emotions. It’s just as true with its DMs. But now, Twitter has given its users more options.

Twitter Direct Message Reaction Emojis Debut

Twitter Direct Message reaction emojis are here. And, they are quite similar to competitor Facebook. The expressions are accessible via the heart-plus icon that appears next to messages. Simply double tap a message to trigger the panel and viola!

Twitter explains how to use reaction emoji on a help page:

“It’s quick and easy to add an emoji reaction to a Direct Message –– both text and media attachments. To add a reaction, hover over the message and click the reaction button (heart and plus icon), or double tap on the message and pick an emoji from the pop-up. You can undo a reaction at any time and it will be removed from the message for all participants. Click or tap on a reaction in a conversation to view who reacted to the message. Additionally, all conversation participants will receive a notification any time a new reaction is added to a message.”
