In January, Twitter released a new major events calendar to assist entities marketing on the platform tap into relevant topics and conversations. The initiative included a metrics based on last year’s data to provide more insight. The calendar debuted to fanfare and was an instant hit.
Twitter March Events Calendar Published to Aid Brand Marketing
Now, the microblog is doing the same for the month of March, which includes iHeartRadio Music Awards, SXSW Festival, Purim, Holi, the start of March Madness, and St. Patrick’s Day.
Twitter notes March Madness is a particularly big event. So large, 86 percent of college sport fans follow the tournament, with 78 percent following right to the conclusion.
“People on Twitter have a large appetite for different views and insights about their interests. Fifty percent of fashion followers would like to have more info and content from fashion brands on Twitter, while 70 percent of sports fans wish brands would use Twitter to participate in the game itself,” the company explains on its business blog.
The company likewise released a fashion infographic for Paris Fashion week, which started yesterday. The infographic demonstrates 76 percent of Twitter users are interested in fashion and 75 percent are more likely to buy fashion products trending than non-users.
Earlier this year, Twitter inked a live-streaming sports deal to cover Sky News U.K. soccer clubs’ “Deadline Day.”
