Halstead, Essex, UK–Twitter is growing at a faster rate than Facebook and Google+, according to industry research conducted by Global Web Index.
The report indicates that Twitter’s niche social media strategy is paying off in a large way. Of the approximate 485 million global Internet users, 36 percent have Twitter accounts. Registered users who logged onto the social media platform at least once per month grew by 40 percent or 288 million in the second half of last year.
Twitter’s increased monthly active traffic surpassed both Facebook and Google+, who added 33.4 percent to 693.5 million and 27.7% to 343 million respectively. Twitter now commands a full 21 percent of the total Internet population each month, according to findings in the study.
