A different look will soon come with an upcoming Facebook News Feed redesign, which sports circular profile pics, Messenger-like comments, and more…
“Every person’s News Feed is different and populated with a unique set of stories — from photos and videos to GIFs and links. And with so many types of stories available, each feed is more complex than ever. In order to make News Feed more conversational and easier to read and navigate, we’ll be making a few updates to its design over the coming weeks,” the company explains.
New Facebook News Feed Redesign, Comments Makeover, and Other Changes Rolling Out over Coming Weeks
The redesign ditches the blue profile header, swapping it for increased white space, with bigger Like, Comment, and Share buttons. Also, the familiar squared profile pictures are circular, with Messenger-esque comments. Comments now feature a grey message bubble, replacing the previous line breaks, making it more simple to know who replies in specific threads. Note the bottom of the screen also includes a change in the camera and emoji position:
Facebook states it’s increased the color contrast to improve readability, making the typographic more legible. Additionally, larger link previews replace smaller ones and the home, video search, Marketplace, and notifications icons, too, are larger:
Finally, users can easily see where a link takes them before tapping it. Users can also now see whose post they are commenting on, reacting to, or reading inside the post. And a more conspicuous back button makes navigation a bit easier:
Facebook states none of these changes should affect Pages’ reach or referral traffic. It’s definitely a cleaner and less cluttered look which should improve UX or user experience on the platform.
