WhatsApp Bringing Chat Filters to Personal, Non-Business Accounts

WhatsApp has Plans to Organize Otherwise Chaotic Conversations

WhatsApp already lets enterprise accounts filter messages and now everyone will have the same option, being able to organize conversations…

WhatsApp has gained a reputation for being slow to adopt new features. As a result, the app is sparse compared to competitors like Telegram. But, that’s changed over the past year or two. During that time, the Facebook (Meta) subsidiary introduced several new tools for millions of users. These include multi-device support, emoji reactions, self-deleting media and messages, and more. Now, WhatsApp is bringing another useful feature to its platform.

WhatsApp Bringing Chat Filters to Personal, Non-Business Accounts

WhatsApp already allows business accounts to filter their chats on both desktop and mobile apps. So, business profiles can organize conversations, such as unread messages, unsaved contacts, and groups. However, this same functionality isn’t available for the average, non-business user. But, the folks over at WABetaInfo discovered those filters are coming to everyone.

The new WhatsApp chat filter appears in the upper right corner near the search bar and contains four options: Unread chats, Contacts, Non-contacts, and Groups. So, anyone using WhatsApp can categorize messages, bringing some organization to their conversations. The filters should appear in the next beta build and if all goes smoothly, will make their way out to wide, stable release.
