During the latter part of 2020, WhatsApp appeared to be working on creating voice and video call support for its desktop experience, according to a code analysis at the time. The messaging platform already possessed the ability to make calls via its desktop app, it but it entirely depended on Facebook. Now, that’s changing as WhatsApp is rolling out support for both voice and video calls right through Windows PCs and macOC computers.

The new WhatsApp desktop voice and video call options give users the ability to enjoy a larger keyboard for writing messages and larger screens to see others. After all, it’s not always convenient or preferable to be limited to a smartphone. There are plenty of instances when it makes sense to have more room to work with. It also has the added benefit of saving on battery life and gives users the option to do other things with their phones while on video or voice calls.
