WhatsApp Face Unlock Support for Android Reportedly on the Way

WhatsApp Reportedly Developing this Super-Handy Feature for its Android App

WhatsApp is working on a new way to unlock its Android mobile application and is also developing missed call notifications…

Popular Facebook subsidiary messaging platform WhatsApp is apparently creating two new features. The first will greatly appeal to people who too-often miss group calls. The second will charm Google Pixel 4 owners. These are a missed call notification and face unlocking, respectively, according to a recent report by WABetaInfo, which says the two tools will soon be available on Android.

The missed call notification will allow users to join in on ongoing group through a new prompt. If a contact tries to get in touch with someone who is unavailable, that person can opt to join or ignore an ongoing call the next time they open WhatsApp. This should bring it closer to some of its peers, including the likes of Zoom and Skype, which already have this type of functionality.

The other feature is face/fingerprint unlock, which has already been available on iOS. Fingerprint lock will then be known as “Biometric lock” and will expand to mean both fingerprint and face unlock. Users can choose to automatically lock the app after a predetermined time and then can unlock the device using their finger or face.
