WhatsApp Android and iPhone support ending

Nearly 7.5 Million Android Devices — and Some iPhones — are Soon to Lose Support for WhatsApp

WhatsApp will no longer be compatible with millions of Android and iPhone devices as the company ends support for some models…

Soon, it will no longer be possible for certain people to ignore repeated warnings issued by WhatsApp for millions of Android and iPhone owners. The messaging service has long stated it is about to end support for some mobile devices.

WhatsApp Support for Some Android and iPhones Nearly at an End

WhatsApp has been telling its users for quite a while now it will cease to support its messaging service on different versions of Android and iPhone alike.

The change will affect approximately 7.5 million Android device owners, along with some iPhone model owners. And, the end is coming very soon.

In February, the WhatsApp messaging service mobile application will stop working on Android versions 2.3.7 and older, as well as the iPhone 7. As these mobile devices age, they are less able to support certain applications. In less than a week’s time, the list will grow longer with WhatsApp joining.

This comes at a time when the overall sales of smartphones have either seemingly plateaued or fallen. Increasingly, consumers are holding on to their devices for longer periods of time, forgoing upgrades.

This phenomenon is largely due to the fact that newer models just do not offer any must-have features that make them irresistible to the public.
