WhatsApp is readying an update that will allow participants to leave group chats without every single member knowing about his or her exit…
WhatsApp isn’t exactly known for its robust sweet of user features, unlike competitor telegram. But the Facebook subsidiary has been recently introducing a number of tools and options that really make WhatsApp more user-friendly. Now, it appears that the company is close to changing how group chat participation works. More particularly, giving participants the option to leave quietly without everyone knowing they’ve left.
WhatsApp to Stop Notifying All Group Chat Members when Someone Leaves the Conversation
WhatsApp group chat can support up to 512 individuals. That’s a lot of people in one conversation, so it’s inevitable that tangents will eventually be a part of the experience. Couple this with a lack of interest or an outdated topic, and it’s no wonder that at least some people would like to leave the group.
However, when a person leaves a group chat, WhatsApp sends a notification to every single participant. And, that can mean a lot of subsequent follow-up questions, which makes leaving a group so undesirable. But, with an upcoming change, the app will no longer alert individual participants, only administrators. That means anyone can leave at any time without feeling undue anxiety.
