YouTube AR Beauty Try-On Feature Lets Viewers Virtually Try Out Makeup while Watching Videos
YouTube is trying out a new feature will allows viewers to virtually try on makeup while watching videos.
When available, the video will play at the top of the screen, with the front-facing camera rolling on the viewer. Once enabled, the viewer can try a palate of colors, simply by tapping.
It’s a new experience and one that’s very early in its development. The tool works through the creator in-house content program, called FameBit. YouTube has already trialed the option and says 30 percent of viewers activated the feature when tested on the iOS app.
Although YouTube isn’t the first out with this technology, it’s definitely the largest platform to offer it. Another advantage is the fact in this context, it’s not necessarily brands pushing their products. So, it makes the experiences more like those consumers find in shopping malls and other environments.
