A YouTube hack hit the world’s most popular video hosting site this morning, defacing high-profile music videos and channels…
YouTube apparently became the target of a huge hack today. Among the casualties is the Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee video “Despacito,” which altogether disappeared from the platform. In that instance, the hackers altered the video, displaying masked gunmen from the Netflix show Casa de Papel. Also, the description was changed by two hackers going by the names Prosox and Kuroi’sh.
YouTube Hack Affects Major Videos, Channels
Many other popular videos were affected by the digital break-in, including Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Shakira, Drake, Chris Brown, and Katy Perry. However, some of that content remains available but show altered titles and thumbnails. All infected content was loaded right up to the respective artists’ Vevo channels. But, at this time, it’s unknown if the hacker gained deeper access to individual accounts or was only targeting Vevo.
One of the alleged hackers tweeted the following:
“Its[sic] just for fun i just use script “youtube-change-title-video” and i write “hacked” don t judge me i love youtube <3″
Here’s the tweet:
