Spotify doesn’t hold the top spot for music streaming; neither does Apple Music, nor Amazon Prime Music, it’s actually YouTube…
Ask the average person which music streaming service is the most popular and answers will likely be Spotify, Apple Music, perhaps Pandora or Deezer, maybe even Amazon Prime Music. But, it turns out, none of those music streaming platforms holds the top position in that category. Instead, the most popular medium is a video hosting site, known the world-over as YouTube. That’s right, a video portal is number one when it comes to music streaming.
YouTube is the Most Popular Music Streaming Service, Outperforming Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Prime Music, and Even YouTube Music
Spotify boasts 60 million tracks, four billion playlists, along with 1.9 million podcasts. It also has approximately 320 million global listeners. Meanwhile, Apple Music claims about 72 million, Pandora has 58.58 million, Amazon Prime Music has 55 million, and Deezer 14 million. But, none of these comes close to YouTube’s prowess. The video hosting site attracts 30 million daily active users who consume 1 billion videos per day. Moreover, YouTube accounts for 37% of all internet traffic and users watch up to 40 minutes via mobile every day.
However, the site’s dedicated music streaming service, YouTube Music, isn’t nearly as successful. Although, compared to other music streaming platforms, performs quite well, with 30 million paid subscribers.
