YouTube Music has come a long way in a relatively short amount of time and its direct social sharing capabilities just got more robust…
YouTube Music has become or is becoming — respective to the individual listeners’ perspective — a suitable replacement for Google Play Music, which the company officially killed off in February of 2021. However, it still lacks in some aspects behind the most popular streaming competitors of the day. For instance, the ability to quickly share podcasts, playlists, and more on social media. But, the audio entertainment platform is catching up, particularly with the latest changes to the platform.
YouTube Music Activates Snapchat and Instagram Share Buttons after Two Years
YouTube Music has included social share buttons for both Snapchat and Instagram, which have appeared on the UI since 2020. Although those buttons did nothing when tapped, that is, up until now. With the most recent changes, both the Snapchat and Instagram share icons function as one would imagine. Going forward, listeners can share different media they are enjoying with others and now have more options to do so.
Still, it’s a bit odd that it would take Google so long to turn on such a simple option, especially one that is part of any standard music streaming interface. But it can be easily put in the better late than never column.
