YouTube TV has added three new channels to its platform — Docurama, Dove Channel, and CONtv — that will cost $4.99 per channel per month…
YouTube TV bills itself as a less expensive alternative to cable. But, the streaming subscription service keeps raising its prices. It’s doing so yet again, though this time because of adding three new channels: Docurama, Dove Channel, and CONtv. All three offer a seven-day free trial at sign up. After that, YouTube TV customers who opt in must pay $4.99 per channel, per month, increasing the monthly bill by $15 for those who elect to upgrade with all three channels.
YouTube TV Adds Docurama, Dove Channel, and CONtv, Raising its Monthly Subscription Cost by $15
The three new channels are niche offerings. Docurama adds “acclaimed, cutting-edge documentary films,” plus biographies and true-crime stories. CONtv offers a “diverse range of film and television essentials focusing on action/thriller, horror, anime and sci-fi/fantasy genres.” Lastly, the Dove Channel is a family-friendly channel with reruns of shows such as Abbot and Costello and other shows aimed at both children and families.
Of course, YouTube TV subscribers don’t have to add any of the new channels and continue to pay their existing monthly rate. However, the current cost of $64.99 probably won’t last, even if customers don’t add the new offerings.
