Pinterest video ads are soon expected to launch into beta phase in a move to challenge rivals Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and other sites…
Pinterest video ads are coming soon, according to several news sources. The image-centric digital pinboard will roll out a proprietary video advertising tool beta version in the coming weeks. The new sponsored videos will last up to five minutes and will reside natively on the Pinterest platform. This move isn’t surprising considering the sheer size of its active user base, which continues to steadily grow.
Pinterest Videos Ads Coming Soon
Pinterest video ads will differ rival Facebook as its sponsored videos will play automatically as users scroll up and down. However, said autoplay video ads will pause when users stop scrolling. Clicking on Pinterest videos ads will cause a new page to open, with sound. Marketing partners will also have the ability to position six “featured pins” beneath sponsored videos, highlighting additional relevant content.
Earlier this month, the digital pinboard social site started a broad push toward more video content. In general, Pinterest is experiencing a sharp rise in the number of videos posted to the site. Pins featuring video content increased 60 percent in a year-over-year comparison, according to the company. Pinterest also disclosed video engagement on its site enjoy two times as much engagement compared to video content posted to other social platforms. If true, Pinterest ostensibly could charge above-average market rates, while still taking away business from its closest rivals.
Pinterest is shifting its efforts to improve monetization channels from its more than 100 million monthly active users. The site launched in March 2010, currently employs 500 team members, and ranks in the top ten of all social media sites. The company is currently valued at $11 billion.
